During my time at Hayes Large Architects, I functioned in several capacities.  Here are some highlights:

 

Intern Architect

completed a set of construction documents for small athletic storage facility from schematic design through construction documentation phase

-worked and coordinated CDs directly with engineering consultants (structural, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical)

-utilized hand and computer rendering skills to communicate with the client through a range of diagrammatic to photorealistic images

 

 LEED Coordinator

-provided guidance on issues related to sustainability and LEED certification on several elementary school projects

-established sustainability goals with both the Owner and AE team and incorporated those goals into a LEED scorecard applicable to the most appropriate rating system

-supervised the LEED documentation as required for design submissions and worked closely with the Contractor and Commissioning Agent to complete the LEED construction submission on USGBC’s LEED Online

 

 CAD Supervisor

-assisted drafting CAD users in the implementation of Architectural Desktop and helped to troubleshoot any issues while generating 3D models that would the team to spatially design and critique our buildings before physical construction

 

 Marketing Assistant

-helped to identify and establish MBE relationships with building consultants in the Maryland, Washington DC, and Virginia markets for partnership on future construction projects

An architect-in-training, I love design!  I could not have picked a better profession to enter because there are an unbelievable number of opportunities to design all around us.  As architects, we learn to design the experience a person will have in a space.  It’s an awesome responsibility and a great challenge at the same time!
